Sandrine Blondel was born in 1964, grew up and still lives in a suburb of Paris. After her studies she worked in Design, first in the Ivory Coast, and later in Paris. In the year 2000, she opened a studio in the old Parisian artist's quarter Menilmontant. The subjects of her work are unusual. She transports the viewer to pulsating metropolises around the world, without romanticising the faceless buildings and the noisy traffic-filled streets in the process. Grey corresponds more closely to reality according to her concept. She varies the gradation of this grey greatly, thus creating an ideal contrast to the yellow taxis that appear like points of light through the mist. |
